WHY A BEAR?

Human trafficking is ugly.  Bears are not.  So why do we have them?  Because they attract attention.  They have universal appeal.  Moreover, many people like to think that slavery - the concept of human beings as property - is a thing of the past.  So they may avoid asking about an advocacy bracelet, but curiosity about the bear will cause questions.  Our bear partners take their bears everywhere - different countries, workplaces, government offices, formal dinners. . .Place a bear on a table, on the counter while you bank, peeping from your backpack and presto, instant conversation.  it may be a short conversation - just a few words and perhaps a card where people can seek more information - but it spreads the word.
